Snagging baseballs for charity — 2011

As you may already know, I’ve been raising money since 2009 for Pitch In For Baseball, a non-profit charity that provides baseball equipment to underprivileged kids all over the world. Each season, I’ve been asking folks to pledge a little bit of money for every baseball that I snag at Major League stadiums — and the money has really added up. With everyone’s help, we’ve raised more than $12,000 for this great cause.

Let’s keep it going. Let’s make 2011 the biggest year yet. Opening Day is just a few weeks away. It’s officially that time, and I need your help once again. Check out this charity page on my website. There’s lots of info there about what I’m doing and how it’ll work and why Pitch In For Baseball is so awesome. Even MLB recognizes the awesomeness.

Finally, if you need extra motivation to get involved, I’m going to give away a few baseball prizes at the end of the season — but only the people who make pledges will be in the running. Details coming soon.

Again, CLICK HERE to learn more about my charity drive. Even if you don’t actually donate anything, I still want to thank you for being a part of it from the sidelines. It’s nice just to get to share this on my blog and let everyone know what I’m doing.

First of all, I think that it is great that you do this each season.(Or at least since 2009.) I’ll definitely be making a pledge sometime soon. (Haven’t decided how much yet.) Only 8 hours until it’s THE day.

Hey Zack is the new book available in stores or just Amazon? Snagged 15 balls so far in spring training Florida, thanks for the tips…

I just made a pledge in my firm’s name. Now that the book is done, you’ve got a lot of free time.

The day has finally arrived! And as for the charity pledge, why don’t you sign up for one penny per ball? Then if you want to increase it at any point during the season, just send me an email and I can change it for you.

The book should be available wherever new books are sold. Congrats on the 15 balls.

Thanks so much. I saw your fancy email address from the firm and knew it was you.

Well I was able to purchase the book believe it or not last night!!!!!!… I called my local Barnes and Noble Bookstore yesterday around 3pm and asked if they would be carrying a copy..She said they would be and would call me when it came in. While at my son’s baseball game I recieved a call back from the bookstore saying the book was in and waiting at the counter (this was around 8pm)…….I have to say I was very excited..Been looking forward to reading this ever since you blogged about your experince in Costa Rica at the Rawlings factory… Just the first few chapters read, I have to say you have hit a home run with this book Zack.. Being a father and having been lucky enough to have a great dad of my own, the single blank page with the words ” This one’s for my dad. ” had me holding back tears. I’m sure your dad would be very proud of you and this book. Best of luck and looking forward to this years ballhawking…

This is one of the kindest and most touching comments (or emails) that I’ve ever received in my entire life. Thank you so much. Really…thanks. I showed this to my mom, and she was nearly moved to tears. I hope the rest of the book is just as enjoyable as the first few chapters.
