  4. Greg

Haha, I probably couldn’t think of 40 songs right now. But you gotta have “You’re the Best!” from Karate Kid on there. ;)

  5. goisles

Belated commends for your Ireland posts. What a spectacular trip!

Unfortunately although eclectic and containing a few gems (kudos on Joe Jackson–but not his best), as my taste runs, I view the bulk of your list as musical morphine. If I listened to this on a road trip in any random order, the chances that I would fall asleep and run off the road after five songs is greater than 60 percent.

Peace be with you and have a happy new year!

    hi Z. padreleigh ph# at hotel is 858 558 1500 call 11pm cali time…..t p hilton.. havent tried yet.

Has anyone checked out the new MLB Network?? It is so cool!! Although they keep showing a pitcher for the Yankees throw a no hitter in the ’55 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers. If you don’t know your baseball history well (like me) then this is a great channel to learn all about our amazing past time.

  8. "D" The Rockpile Ranter

Play some freggin Zepplin man, what about Judas Priest? I need to get you around some of my buddies inside their “Record Room”. A couple hours in there and your musical tastes will be forever altered for the better. Just kiddin bro, my favorite on your list is “Down in a Hole” by Alice in Chains and “The Great Gig In The Sky” by Pink Floyd. Not sure if your back on America soil yet, hope you enjoyed your trip…D

hey zack can you “churn butter” as jona would say to any of these songs?
95 days til the new YS opens (boooooo!)

    HAPPY YOUNGSTER-
    Thanks!

    ELLIE-
I don’t think I’ve ever even heard DeGraw. Tell me ONE song of his I should check out…

    SPORTZFREEKA-
    I’m glad you approve.

    UTAHSTEELER-
    …and a very underrated song.

    AARON-
I like it. Other than “Amsterdam,” I think “Lose Yourself” is my favorite among the songs you listed.

    JONELI24-
Nice. My favorite of the songs you listed is “Fire and Rain.”

    GREG-
Andy LaRoche comes to bat (at PNC) to that song. It’s hilarious.

    FATHER PUCK-
Morphine, huh? Sorry, but I go for “pretty” before I worry about the lyrics or the hotness of the band members or any other criteria that so many people seem to use to pick their favorite music. But I respect your opinion. Believe me, I have lots of rah-rah music in my collection, but it’s just not the stuff that gives me chills.

    TRACYCOLLINSBECKY-
I just called the hotel, talked to Leigh’s co-worker, and heard that our man is alive and well.

    JOBAJR-
That song would be a lot higher on the list if I hadn’t heard it 8 million times.

    THOMASB-
Haven’t seen it yet. My mind is in another galaxy these days in which baseball hasn’t yet been invented.

    ROCKPILE RANTER-
Oh yeah, I’ve been back in the States for more than a week now. Just been really busy with holidays and family stuff. I have a lot of Zeppelin. “Stairway to Heaven” is one of my all time faves, along with “All My Love” and “Immigrant Song” and “Black Dog” and “Thank You” and “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Over The Hills And Far Away” and several others. Never got into/exposed to Judas Priest. Any recommendations?

    PUCK COLLECTOR-
    Probably songs 5, 27, 31, and 32. But let’s not go there.

    PADRE LEIGH-
    Stop hiding.

  11. Charlie

    Hey Zack;
I’m back! You probably don’t remember me, but i hope to read more.
    What did I miss?

any plans for Denver in 2009?

It was actually ADAM Laroche that comes to bat with the Karate Kid song on…ANDY copied it when he came over from the Dodgers. I’m sorry that i even know that since I live in Pittsburgh and actually have to watch this sorry team…SIGH!!!

I’ve been reading this blog for years, but this is my first comment… I live in Las Vegas, and watched Andy LaRoche in the minors before he got called up and traded; he used that song his entire time in AAA, and that article gives an interesting background story about LaRoche with the song.
