MotherTown

mothertown.jpg

A small New England newspaper called MotherTown just ran a LONG review of my book. Check it out and tell me what you think of my Dice-K predictions near the end of the article.

In other media news, I just did a taped phone interview with WJBC 1230 AM in Bloomington, Illinois. it’s supposed to air after today’s Cardinals game which (right now at 2:20pm ET) is currently in the top of the 5th inning.

Twenty-four hours from now, I’m doing another phoner with WJOX 100.5 FM in Birmingham, Alabama. I think that one will be live.

And don’t forget: I’m going to be on “The Tim Kuda Show” on Saturday the 21st for an hour starting at 11:30pm ET. You can listen live on Tim’s site.

There are a few other things in the works (including a Q&A for my college newspaper and two out-of-town games I might attend next week). More later…

Quite a review, and a very precise prediction of Dice-k, did you just pull those numbers out of your head? Also, I decided to count your autograph as #102 in my collection, congratulations you now have an official #!

probably the most thoughtful take on matzuzaka i’ve read. whether or not it even comes true…it has substance behind it rather that just the hype you hear from the pundits. nice review too…
so what time is your interview in my home town tomorrow?

    GREG-
    Thanks!

    JOHN-

Yep, I just made up those numbers, but I’d like to think of them as educated estimates. I’m honored to be an official part of your collection. Seriously.

    MIKE-

I appreciate it. Tomorrow’s interview is scheduled for 2:20pm ET, but I’m not sure if it’ll be live. If you’re listening, and you don’t hear me at that time, email me, and I’ll let you know what’s going on.

    Zacker:

Slow down, your working overload and won’t last the entire season at this pace…

Save some time and use two phones at the same time — one-in-each-ear, that way phoners will be NO problem!

Chacin pitched very good tdy, except for that HUGE bomb that he gave up to Willy Mo that hit the restaurant way up in CF, but other than that he was awesome and we beat the Sox and Dice-K.

I laugh at the Hample Curse

First of all, Jimmy, it’s a “Jinx,” not a “Curse,” and if you laugh too hard, I might unleash it on you.

    Zack,
Just wanted to let you know that you may have some tight competition. I now am on a 2 game streak of 1 ball per game lol. Total of 2 balls.

Bring on the phones, sports illustrated, Jay Leno, and David Letterman!

To think I’d forgotten to check out the onset of further ball snagging. Only now you’re *famous,* huh? Don’t get too big a head, or your many, many caps won’t fit. But it sounds like we don’t have to worry about that ;-)

    MIKE-
    Sounds great to me.

    ZOE-

Famous? Nah. Just somewhat known among certain geeky (I use the term lovingly) circles, but I’ll take it.

    CHARLIE-

Thanks! I’m so glad to hear it.

    TRUE PLAYA-

Chacin will be going down soon…

GOD **** MOTHER ******* YANKEES! YOU ****, JOE BOROWSKI! I HATE YOU!

  13. Zack

    CHARLIE-
That’s too bad. A bunch of us are curious to find out the answer, and you’re our last hope.

    GREG-

A-Rod is immune to hatred this year. (Did you see him throw his batting gloves into the crowd after his post-game interview?)

    JIMMY-

I agree about A-Rod, and I heard about the fatty at Shea. Crazy stuff.

  14. gregorybarasch@yahoo.com

Actually, I wasn’t mad at A-Rod at all. I was pissed at the stupid Cleveland coaches who decided to leave Joe Borowski in to face him in with the winning run on second. What were they thinking? And no, I didn’t see the batting gloves.*****. That would be quite a souvenir.

As for your comment to Charlie, the Rockies come to Shea next week and I’m almost definitely going to one of the games, so I’ll try to ask one of the coaches.

  15. psu532@yahoo.com

Freaking A-Rod. I can’t believe Borowski blew that game with a 6-2 lead and 2 outs in the 9th. Unreal. Us Mets fans hate to see the Yankees win.

Yeah Zack, I saw both the batting gloves get tossed into the front row. A guy on the right caught one of them, but there was a fight for the other one. Surprisingly, neither one is on Ebay yet! haha

  16. Zack

    GREG-
    I hear ya.

    PSU-

I don’t mind seeing the Yankees win when it involves Mariano, Jeter, or A-Rod.

  17. Zack

    CUBS-
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know.

    REDSOX-

Later this afternoon, I’ll be posting a new entry with my plans…

  18. joneli24@yahoo.com

    zack-
so i am going to shea on sunday for the braves/mets game. yes i know its a sunday, yes i know its gonna be 70 degrees, and i know that glavine is facing off against smoltz…anyway i went last year to a sunday mets/braves game and i was able to get a ball from brian mccann…im hoping for maybe one or two balls this time…and about 10 autos would be nice…ill let you know on monday how it goes

after that i must admit i have no idea when the next game i may be able to get to…

  19. Zack

Wow, that’s going to be a tough day to snag. Definitely let me know how it goes. Even if you only get one ball, that would still be a success.

I would love to hear your interview on Saturday, but I have a game at 12. Is there some way to listen to it after it’s been recorded??
