Anaheim, 1995

I finally found the pics from my trip to Anaheim in 1995…

anaheimzackonfield.jpg

That summer, I was working for the Boise Hawks (the Angels’ Class A Short-Season affiliate until 2001), so I had behind-the-scenes access when I went to see the Big Club. It’s amazing how different the place was before Disney took over and renovated.

I still get goose bumps when I look at these pics. For me, there’s something magical about being inside an empty stadium, and that will never change.

That’s pretty cool… I wish I could get into the stadium like that. It would be better if you were the only person in the stands with the players taking batting practice.

  2. boodleheimer1@aol.com

Or still better if – with the stadium sold out – you were the Met’s shortstop and had just hit a grandslam in the top of the 9th that clinched the World Series for your team and got you named Series MVP.

    NICK-
For a while, I *was* the only person during batting practice. I was in the ballpark at noon for a night game, and the gates didn’t open until 90 minutes before the first pitch. Heh heh. Rare moments like that help make up for other injustices.

    BOODLE-

Yes indeed, but don’t you mean the BOTTOM of the ninth?

    CHAD-

Four days from now, if all goes well…

  4. boodleheimer1@aol.com

    Z –
I considered that. But didn’t want to place you on the home team there even in fantasy. So I opted for top 9, projecting that the other team would go down one-two-three in the bottom. But feel free to re-edit according to your own dream.

NONONONONONONO DO NOT GO TO THE YANKEES MARINERS GAME NEXT MONDAY. MY PARENTS SENT ME AWAY TO ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL CAMPS FOR 3 WEEKS, AND THIS IS MY FIRST NIGHT AT HOME, AND MY FIRST YANKEE GAME IN OVER A MONTH. PLEASE, AT LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY TO STAY IN RIGHT FIELD.

  6. Zack

    BOODLE-
I didn’t realize you were talking about THAT stadium.

    CHUCKSTER-

Don’t worry. I’m not going to Yankee Stadium again this season UNLESS they get eliminated from the playoffs and attendance drops significantly.

Zack–when the time comes, (when I get a little older), I would like to become an interm with a club. a. What do you do? b. How do you get to become an intern? c. How old should/do you have to be?

    Thanks

  8. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Dam might miss my insane planned weekend cause I have to visit family, but I’m probably ditching the Mariners and replacing them with the Texans hope thats good.

  9. andy5353@aol.com

ZAck-regarding your question in the last post.JImmy is right i am cheap like him.lol.
    Jimmy-did u check it out?

    -kaylee

  10. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Kaylee- Yea I checked it out good start, keep it going. Thinking of writing blogs again, but I always get lazy after 2 weeks so who knows.

Zack- I might not be going to see the Mariners, but I might see the Rangers so can you or any others fill me in with good ball throwers or signers on those teams. Thanks

  11. Zack

    YANKS FAN-
I took a year off after high school, and I set up several “activities” (including my internship with the Hawks) through a company called Interim:

    http://www.interimprograms.com/

If you want to try to do it on your own, I guess you could start by writing letters directly to Minor League teams. You’d probably need to be at least 16 years old. Maybe 17 or 18. That’s probably the best age to start. I’m not an expert, though. This was just a one-time deal for me.

    JIMMY-

The Rangers will probably hit more homers in BP, so that’s a good trade-off. Like all the AL teams that you guys keep asking me about, I haven’t seen the Rangers in a long time. All I can tell you is that Ron Mahay is nice and Kevin Millwood isn’t.

    KAYLEE-

Cheapness is allowed…especially if you’re not old enough to work.

    EVERYONE-

I think we’re placing too much emphasis on which guys are good ball-throwers. Success for a snagger comes from pursuing the right MOMENT and LOCATION, not a specific guy.

  12. joneli24@yahoo.com

Zack- i agree. its all about how you position yourself and whether or not your ready to recieve. its like a QB/WR duo. You have to be in the right spot on the field away from the defenders (or in this case: other fans) and the QB/player with the ball will hit you for the completion

  13. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Meh I’m too lazy to position myself, I’ve only caught one foul ball during bp and almost got a homer, well thx for the info I guess.

i just got to leave negative feedback on Ebay for the first time in two years. i have a complaint to paypal also. its amazing what they do.

The reason i left neg feedback was:

-it has been 20 days since auctions end.

-i have emailed the seller 5 times and have not been emialed back at all

-the seller has never contacted me

-it was supposed to be shipped via priority mail (2-3 days for delivery)

So, im really intrested to see what happens, if the seller actually finally contacts me or ebay, so its gonna be 20 days untill the case is over. so, ill keep you updated

  15. thechuckster8@aol.com

Thank you so much, maybe I’ll see you at Shea later this year, and hopefully I won’t see you at Yankee Stadium.

  16. Zack

    JONELI-
Glad you agree. Nice comparison to football. I’ve only used eBay a few times. Never had a problem with it…but man, that’s AWFUL. I hate it when people don’t respond…especially when they have my money.

    JIMMY-

If there’s no crying in baseball, then there’s no laziness in SNAGGING baseballs. Good ball-throwers on the M’s include: J.J. Putz, Ichiro, and Carl Everett…or at least he was back in his Marlin days. Coach Ron Hassey is pretty nice, too.

    CHUCKSTER-

You’re very welcome. I want nothing to do with that place.

  17. yanksfan61293@aol.com

Chad-the game isn’t coming along yet. I go to the camp where I make it in about a week. I am not too optimistic about the game…it may be a hard one to make.

  18. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Well maybe for you theres no laziness, but for me thats another story. Anyway thanks for the tips, getting left out with everyone and their blogs so should I make one?

Also whats yur friends Sean’s link for his blog he has some pretty good stuff.

  19. andy5353@aol.com

    -kaylee

  20. andy5353@aol.com

I hope my sox dont blow it again in extra innings it is tied at 3 inn the 10th
    -kaylee

  21. andy5353@aol.com

I cant watch this sox game afraid they are gunna blow it aggain.
    -kaylee

  22. andy5353@aol.com

dammit I post that and he tavarez does it nhe gives up the game Jimmy u might get your wish
    -kaylee

  23. andy5353@aol.com

JEEZ JIMMY THE SOX WERE winning until YOU MADE YOUR COMMENT.yOU GOT YOUR WISH THEY LOST.
    -KAYLEE

  24. andy5353@aol.com

Zack-Sorry it just gets a little anoying when your bullpen(the sox bullpen)blows two games in a row.
    -kaylee

  25. ramones18@cox.net

nice pics Zack, ive always wanted to be on a field alone, thats pretty cool.

  26. Zack

    KAYLEE-
Sorry about that. Sarcasm doesn’t always come through in writing.

    RAMONES-

Thanks. I feel lucky to have been out there.

  27. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Woo I don’t know if some1 answered my wish but as soon as I said I hope the Sox lose they just stunk. Anyway might start a blog.

  28. Zack

Make it an MLBlog! When’s your birthday? Maybe your family can buy you a one-year subscription as a gift.

  29. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Well my birthday is in January, and I’d rather have some money to spend on stupid things than a blog, might just make a free blog on blogspot, who knows.

  30. andy5353@aol.com

    Hey Guys,
Jimmy-can u do me a favor and stop wishing the sox to lose.

You were lucky last night Barry zito and Josh beckett tonight Josh is gunna win.

    -kaylee

  31. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

What can I say I special in wishing teams to lose, anyway the Jays looking for a good start against the M’s, gotta slow down Ichiro and we’ll do good. As for the Soxs I’m gonna say both pitchers won’t do good and findal score 8-6 Oakland. As for the Jays I’ll say 6-3 Jays.

  32. andy5353@aol.com

Jimmy-I like those predictions except make that 8-6 Sox.You did not go to the jays game?
    -kaylee

  33. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

I was supposed to go Saturday and Sunday, but I have to go somewhere else this weekend, so I’ll probably catch a Rangers game instead. I was really looking forward to seeing Ichiro… Dam bases loaded 0 out.

  34. andy5353@aol.com

Jimmy-That is not a good start lol..I have nothing better ro do tonight i couldnt be boreder(is that a word)than I am now.RANGERS game is better than no game.
    -kaylee

  35. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Alright 3-0 after half an inning should have been 1-0 but Hill messed up a throw so according to my prediction that should be the only runs the Jays should get.

  36. andy5353@aol.com

1-0 oakland Dammit Jimmy I told you not to see they are gunna win.
    -kaylee

  37. andy5353@aol.com

cant wait til the sox play the jays again so the sox can crash the jays
    -kaylee

  38. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Yeah I think so, started one hopefully I won’t get lazy and stop updating like usual.

http://bluejaysandmore.blogspot.com/ <– there if u wanna check it out.

The waits too long for the Jays and Sox August 31st in Boston kicks off a 4 game series.

  39. jimmyjoejoejrchabadu@hotmail.com

Yes Yankees and Red Soxs are losing, as well as the Jays so hopefully theres no change in the standings.

  40. andy5353@aol.com

ZAck-Welll my SOX lost. Not technicallly yet.Butt they are losing 15-1 in the 8th Bottom of the 8th so I think it is safe to say that oakland beat them i know jimmy
    is happy.

    -kaylee

  41. Zack

    JIMMY-
Just checked out your blog. Good stuff so far (but I still wish you had an MLBlog instead). I would’ve left you a comment there, but you don’t have it set up to take anonymous comments.

  42. andy5353@aol.com

LEts see what the sox have in them tonight.Or in Jimmy’s case what the a’s have in them
    -kaylee

  43. andy5353@aol.com

NIce win by the red sox they shutout the Oakland A’s(sorry jimmy).Got to give it up to there pitching.
    -kaylee

  44. andy5353@aol.com

Jeez WHat is with the red sox offense. They cant score today
